The PEN Member Spotlight series is a new event model that provides opportunities for members to learn directly from another peer government or agency about a procurement reform effort that has produced meaningful outcomes.  Each “spotlight” session positions a peer government or agency center stage to share their story of change and impact, guiding peers through lessons learned along the way.

This September, PEN is spotlighting the Adult Services Division from the King County Department of Community & Human Services (DCHS) in King County, WA!

Join Michael Bailey (Division Director) as he shares how he’s partnering with his team to strategically strengthen contract management processes for nearly $550M in services and supports for veterans, aging adults, and resilient populations in the community. During this peer-led discussion, we’ll explore the Adult Services Division’s approach to:

• Designing pre-vendor assessments to measure, document, and mitigate risk ahead of contract development
• Identifying opportunities to build capacity and equity across contracted providers
• Building a culture of continuous learning through dynamic training and community-based programming
• Equipping staff with practical tools & templates, including Recommended Contract Administration Plans (ReCAPs) to proactively manage compliance and results
