Using Public Procurement to Advance Local High-Quality Jobs

This event took place on Tuesday, March 25 1:00pm – 2:00pm ET.
We hosted an engaging discussion on the intersection of procurement and good jobs. In this roundtable, top labor experts and government practitioners shared specific public procurement strategies to support fair labor practices. We examined proven approaches to improving job quality for contracted workers, such as local hire programs, fair wage ordinances, and community benefits agreements.
Our conversation also explored ways to assist small and local bidders in enhancing job quality for their workers, while balancing the tradeoffs created by added compliance requirements.
We were joined by Branden Butler of San Diego County, Terri Gerstein from the NYU Wagner Labor Initiative, and Molly Scott from the Urban Institute.
